When does an employee become eligible for CMPF membership? +
After March 1989 for not less than 30 days from the date he is employed in a coal mine.

What is the present rate of PF contribution? +
(Rate of Provident Fund contribution for all members for any wage period ending on or after the 1st May, 2000)
(a) Member's Contribution :- 12% of total emoluments.
(b) Employer's Contribution :- 12% of total emoluments.
(Table VII of Para 27)
Can contract workers be covered under CMPF? +
Yes. If engaged in covered employment and fulfilling eligibility conditions, employees engaged through contractors are also covered under the Scheme and the Principal employer is responsible for deposit of contributions.

How can a member check PF balance or accumulation? +
Members may approach the concerned regional office/authorised portal by C-CARES/statement facility for updated account details.
Can a member make voluntary PF contribution? +
Yes, members may contribute voluntarily contribution beyond mandatory contribution as permitted under the scheme with the permission of CMPF Commissioner.*

When a nomination or its modification shall take effect. +
A nomination or its modification shall take effect to the extent that it is valid on the date on which it s received by the Commissioner, CMPFO.
Who is eligible to receive pension under the Coal Mines Pension Scheme? +
Employees who are members of the CMPS pension fund and fulfil the prescribed qualifying service and contribution conditions under the scheme are eligible for pension.
What is the minimum service required for pension eligibility? +
Pension eligibility depends upon the qualifying service prescribed under the applicable pension scheme and relevant amendments. In general, 10 years of pensionable service is the minimum qualifying service for CMPS Pension eligibility.
At what age can a member claim superannuation pension? +
A member becomes eligible for superannuation pension on attaining the retirement age as prescribed under the scheme/SoPs and order issued by this office.
How is pension amount calculated? +
Pension is calculated on the basis of average emoluments of last ten month, pensionable service, and other factors specified under the scheme.
How much time does pension settlement take? +
Pension cases are processed after verification of service records, contribution details, and supporting documents. As per citizen charter issued, any kind of claims should be settled within thirty days subject to eligibility and availability of supporting documents.
Why has pension not been credited in the bank account? +
Possible reasons may include:
  • Bank account mismatch
  • IFSC/account number error
  • Non-submission of life certificate
  • KYC mismatch
  • Pending verification of records
Who are the minimum pension beneficiaries +
As per gazette notification issued on 08th March 2024, pensioners under Para 10(1), 11, 12(3)
How can a pensioner change bank account details? +
A written application along with bank details proof and identity documents may be submitted to the concerned regional office.
Can family pension be claimed after the death of a pensioner/member? +
Yes, eligible spouse and dependents may claim family pension subject to scheme provisions.
Can pension be restored if it has been stopped? +
Yes, after resolving the reason for stoppage (such as non-submission of life certificate or document mismatch), pension may be restored subject to removal of the reason for stoppage.
What should a pensioner do in case of incorrect pension amount? +
The pensioner may submit a representation to the concerned CMPF regional office for verification of service and contribution records.
Who are the minimum pension beneficiaries +
As per gazette notification issued on 08th March 2024, pensioners under Para 10(1), 11, 12(3); and 12(4) are eligible for minimum pension @1000/- per month
